Pregnancy is a time of mental and physical change. It is a wonderful and very personal journey, but can also be a challenging time as your body starts to change shape and adjust to its new demands. A pregnancy yoga practice can help with some of these changes, allowing you to be present in your body as well as helping you to prepare for and bond with your unborn baby. Yoga has a calming effect which is transmitted to your baby.
During pregnancy yoga classes many of the classical poses are modified to accommodate the changes in your body. Postures are open, fluid and nurturing, creating space in your body and helping to alleviate some common ailments, such as backache, heartburn and fluid retention. Breathing techniques learnt in pregnancy yoga classes can be used at anytime during pregnancy and can be very useful during the birthing process. By learning to control the breath women may feel empowered and more in control of their thoughts and body.
Pregnancy Yoga classes combine breathing and relaxation techniques with safe and gentle stretching and movement. Classes provide expectant mothers with the opportunity to spend time connecting with their unborn babies in a peaceful environment, to learn techniques which will help them through their pregnancy and the birthing process (a perfect complement to hypnobirthing) and to find relaxation away from the busyness of everyday life, and to connect and share experiences with other expectant mothers.
My Pregnancy Yoga classes take place in The Hare & The Moon yoga studio, Twickenham Green. Please follow this link to book.

TESTIMONIALS
"I wanted to say a big thank to you for your support and wonderful classes leading up to the birth! It really helped me throughout my pregnancy to feel relaxed and connected to my baby and the breathing practice was essential during labour". Robin
' Thank you for the amazing journey I had during my 5 months of pregnancy. It took time to find a yoga practice which I wanted as the majority of ones I have seen are concentrated on the physical exercise or are online. I was going through a hypnobirthing programme, thus it was important to find a yoga class which would support my hypno practices as well as help to relax, prepare my body and mind for the labour and develop a connection with the baby. Since my first class I have loved the atmosphere, the location itself and the personal touch. Catriona was always giving tips on how to manage different pregnancy and labour symptoms. I am using all the poses and breathing techniques that really help.' Anna
'Antenatal yoga classes with Catriona were great. She taught me how to truly relax for the first time! The positions and breathwork used throughout the classes really prepared me and I used some of them during labour. This tied in very well with the MumaPod Hypnobirthing classes I was taking at the same time, focusing on breathing and practical preparation for the birth.' Fae
